In the 2005-06 school year there will be a six-part Leaders Group training series entitled, "Building a Sustainable System: Institutional Capacity". The trainers for this series will meet as a team to ensure connectedness across the series. The training team includes Ora Grodsky of Justworks, Third Sector New England, Ellen Gannett and Joyce Schott of National Institute on Out of School Time, Ellen Semonoff of the City of Cambridge, Joan Matsalia of Harvard After School Initiative (HASI). Topics for the six-part series include: Leadership Demographic Changes/ Sustainable Collaborations: Reducing Duplication and Competition OST-Schools-Families Partnerships Supporting Staff to Implement Quality Improvement Efforts Staff Retention and Stabilizing Strategies in the Face of Turnover What's Going on Beyond Cambridge: a Panel Discussion The extension of the discussions started at the 2005 summer retreat with Leaders and Quality Facilitators of Neighborhood Clusters will be in the form of a three-part series entitled "Reflection & Strategic Implementation". This series will provide an opportunity to reflect upon work in progress, check-in on stated goals, develop concrete plans for the next phase of implementation. History: The Leadership of the participating organizations met as a group twice annually in 2001 and 2002. As of March 2003 The "Leaders Group" began to meet monthly and continue to do so. The Leaders Group has demonstrated tremendous commitment to the development and success of Leading for Quality including joining the QFs and National Institute on Out of School Time (NIOST) senior facilitators at the summer 2004 retreat to reflect on the past year's work. The leaders group planned for the 2004-2005 year, which was about continuing to build the out-of-school time community of professionals as well as a year for telling the stories of success for each of our city's unique programs.
